Mar 2020Wonderful friendly comfortable hotel - We stayed here as a group of 2 families for our ski holiday during February half term 2020. Our room was comfortable and large, but the main issue was the lack of storage for clothing other than in the two large wardrobes where only hanging storage was available. Very few drawers or shelves for anything you don't want to hang up apart from some shelves in one of the cupboards which was very dark with no light and which already had spare blankets stored in there. The hotel advertises a pool, but it turned out this is actually the public swimming pool next door so not accessible through the hotel, although free to hotel guests with a token. The morning breakfast was lovely - the staff were really friendly. Cooked eggs were delicious. The top (5th floor) bar is a wonderful place to have an early evening drink and watch the sunset over the mountains and enjoy some local meat and cheeses. The hotel is warm and has a lovely atmosphere. All of the staff are helpful and approachable. The hotel has a link with a ski hire shop Da Rosanna where you can hire skis, boots and helmets and store them right on piste - no carrying skis anywhere the whole week! . The staff there were also incredibly helpful and this was such an easy experience it made everything even better. We would definitely come back to this hotel despite the storage issues and pool not actually being part of the hotel. These were minor and wouldn't put us off a return trip.
Feb 2020February Family Ski Vacation - We have got a family suite on the fourth floor. Wonderful room for 4 people family. Functional, clean, well decorated. Food restaurant excellent. Fair prices. Cousy atmosphere. Family hotel with very personal and good service. Afternoon happy hour salon with 360 degrees view on fifth floor - the best we have seen ever (30 years ski experience). Slopes in 5 minutes walking distance. We hired equipment near by the slopes, where we have been directed by the hotel. Al Barachin . Thanks to hotel we have got great prices. We also stored the equipment on the same place - ski in ski out. Wonderful service.
Jan 2020Excellent structure. Personal and kindness that have been the masters in this holiday.Researched and tasty cuisine! Cleanliness of the rooms impeccable! Not to mention the owner Davide (excellent ski instructor) always prepared on every topic and ready to satisfy all our requests by leaving us always surprised. We will return safely for another holiday ... impossible to forget this beautiful stay.
Apr 2019What a wonderful visit. Fabulous location for the slopes, wonderful hosts and staff. You can buy a location but it’s the people you meet that can make or break a holiday. The Shackleton is owned by the Coda family and they took a very active role in making sure our holiday was perfect. Our room was great, the food was lovely and having a pool and Sauna right next door was a great apres ski option for us. Nothing was too much trouble. Davide especially made our visit “tranquillo”. I wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks from us to you all and see you soon.
Mar 2019Excellent stay at this welcoming boutique hotel I had an excellent stay at this hotel with a group of friends, for a week's skiing. Davide and his wife were very welcoming, as were other members of their staff. We took the half board food option to make things easier as a group, and were not disappointed. The hotel restaurant is highly rated, and the food is of excellent quality. Breakfast was included, and was also of a good standard, with both buffet, and hot options available. The hotel is a short walk to the slopes, but the has an agreement with a slope side service who rent skis and look after the equipment for you. So no walking in ski boots required. The service provided was excellent. There is a pool next to the hotel which can be used free of charge for guests. I didn't use it but friends who did provided good feedback.
Mar 2019A wonderful hospitable family run hotel, perfect for our long weekend break. The hotel is a contemporary gem right in the centre of town. Very good location for the main square, restaurants and the ski lifts. The hotel has partnered with a ski rental shop, Noleggio Rosanna, which is adjacent to one of the main chair lifts in Sestriere. Here one can rent skis and store them overnight eliminating the need to walk back to hotel in ski boots.They even stored my skis which i own which helped a lot and were so obliging when they had to open early for me for my early departure. Thank you Rosanna. Back to the hotel...Davide and his wife were amazing hosts. Their team was extremely hospitable, namely Federica, who went out of her way to make us feel at home. Mar 2018A perfect combination of a 4 star and a family run hotel - A walking distance from the slopes, a comfortable family run hotel. The room was large and nice, with a jet tub. The owners are a family of a pro-skier that now gives lessons, his wife is a dancer that now does treatments and a personal trainer. The hotel has an agreements with on the slopes ski shop where you can leave your gear or rent at a discounted price The hotel restaurant is justly Michelin rated, offering fine dining with local flavours, rather than the typical entry level Italian food you can find else where in town.
